The Global Thunder War Memorial

About this site

The area you are about to enter is the former web site for the Global Thunder MBX wargame which was held from January, 2001 to October 2003. (Yes, almost three years!). All passwords have been eliminated so that visitors can browse freely through the headquarters of both sides. Most of the links still function and almost all of the maps, files and documents can still be viewed or downloaded. Items may be used freely without prior consent as long as proper credit is given to this game (the Global Thunder MBX) or the author, if known. It is hoped that this site will continue to provide useful tools, information or perhaps just plain inspiration for future wargames of this type.

To get to the various team headquarters areas (the main attraction of this tour), start at the Global Thunder Main Page and look for the camouflage-patterned button labelled "RESTRICTED AREA."). These headquarters contain the game tools and maps which you may find useful for future wargames.

Regrettably, there is no official AAR for Stage II of this exercise. However, if you click on the ENN Newslink you will find a colorful and often detailed portrayal of many of the key battles in Stage II (including one or two animated re-enactments). There is also a brief umpire's evaluation of Stage I (somewhat less detailed than a true AAR since I could not give away key secrets that would later be relevant in Stage II). Scott Gainer, my co-umpire, offers his own perspective of Stage I as well.

In lieu of a final AAR for the game I hope that in some small way the preservation of the site itself will serve as both a documentary and a monument to the hundreds of players, lurkers and staff who participated in this very special and memorable game.
