It is the year 2009, and the world is a hotbed of global tensions. A newly rebuilt Russian army once again threatens eastern Europe. China is deploying massive forces along the Taiwan Strait and along its border with Vietnam. A coalition of Arab nations is threatening to wipe out Israel, while Bulgaria and Indonesia are showing signs of expansionism. Meanwhile, a wave of coups and civil wars are threatening the stability of much of Africa and Latin America. And North Korea continues to import highly advanced missile technology. Very soon, at least one of these countries is going to strike, and the US or NATO will be forced to respond.

This is the setting for the Global Thunder MBX -- a combined-arms wargame played over the Internet by fun-seeking wargamers from all over the world. This exercise will be conducted in three separate stages, beginning with global-level grand strategy and eventually working our way down to battalion-sized commands in a smaller, tactical arena. Players of all skill levels and wargaming interests are invited to join in the action. Lurkers are also welcome. You can even play a small role as a world leader!
