Qualification scenario #3 for PBEM tournament:

-------------------------------
Modified Team Slocomb
Map 3
Scenario time frame: 20 minutes
-------------------------------

SITUATION:

One USMC infantry platoon (mech) supported by two Cobra helicopters forms
the rear guard of a withdrawing battalion. The platoon must slow the
advance of OPFOR and defend the last intact bridge in the sector. OPFOR
has a tank battalion (+) three to five kilometers east of the town racing
to seize the bridge. Leading OPFOR units will cross the east edge of the
map around 1000.

MISSIONS:

USMC - Hold the bridge as long as possible and attrit OPFOR as good as you can.

OPFOR - Seize the bridge as fast as possible

ORDER OF BATTLE:

US FORCE

- Rifle Platoon (Mech) (3x AAV7 APC, 2x inf squad, 2x SMAW team, 2x MG Team
7.62, 3x Javelin team, 2x Hummer Mortar Carrier)
- 2x AH1 Cobra Helicopter
- 10 Entrenchments
- 4 TRPs

OPFOR

- 3x Tank Company (33 T80U)
- 4x Motorized Rifle Platoon (12x BMP2, 9x Inf squad, 6x PKM MG Team, 2x
AGS17 Team, 3x SA16 SAM)

OFFMAP ARTILLERY AND AIR SUPPORT:

US

1 x 155mm Howitzer
No preplanned air support, however there is a chance of unplanned air
support.

OPFOR

1 x 152mm Howitzer
No preplanned air support, however there is a chance of unplanned air
support.

SUPPLY: 10% both

---------------------------------
SETUP:

I recommend to setup Team Slocomb and modify it.

US: Anywhere within the grey sqare as given by Team Slocomb scenario

OPFOR: Start up Team Slocomb, add optional units, add 11 T80U Tanks. Set up
tanks in black rectangle
----------------------------------

SCORING:

Since this scenario is played play and re-play parallel (both opponents
play US and OPFOR in two games), only US score is evaluated.

Game ends when any OPFOR unit sets foot on the bridge (marker info says
road/clear). After completion of the turn during which this occured score
is evaluated:

- For every minute US managed to hold the bridge US scores 5 points

- For every percent of OPFOR casualities above 50% US adds 2 points to its
score

- For every percent of OPFOR casualities under 50% US subtracts 2 points
from its score

Example: OPFOR sets foot on bridge after 17 minutes with 61% casualities.
Score US = 17*5 (for minutes) + 11*2 (for11% above 50% OPFOR casualities) =
85+22 = 107 points

-------------------------------------------
The scenario can be played against the AI for training if set up as
Team Slocomb and then modified. Be warned, though: AI reactions with the
extra forces are not always predictable or comparable to what a human
player might do...<g> (it moved the extra tanks from south to north all
along map edge before commencing an attack in one of my test games)

Ammendments:

- US does not score negative points. In case the score calculation produces
negative points, US score is ZERO points.

- time score is calculated from the turn OP sets foot on the bridge, i.e.:
if OP gets on the bridge in turn 17, US time score is 17*5
- In case of OPFOR mission failure, i.e. OPFOR doesnt seize the bridge,
time score is evaluated from the turn OPFOR concedes he cannot win.
(example: OPFOR gives up after minute 23 because all his units are lost,
US time score will be 23*5)
